General Operations Support For ICT Food Rescue

ICT Food Rescue is a Wichita, KS based nonprofit organization committed to reducing food waste, alleviating hunger, and educating the community about sustainable food practices. We partner with restaurants, grocery stores, caterers, schools and food distributors to rescue safe, surplus food that would otherwise go to waste. This food is then redistributed through a network of volunteer “food runners” to nonprofit organizations serving individuals and families facing food insecurity. Using the Food Rescue US app, volunteers are able to coordinate timely pick-ups and deliveries, ensuring that rescued food remains fresh, safe, and ready to serve.

This grant will allow ICT Food Rescue to strengthen its operations and expand the educational reach of our mission. Funds will support transportation and fuel expenses, volunteer recruitment and coordination, and community education programs that teach youth and adults about food waste reduction, nutrition and environmental sustainability. In addition, ICT Food Rescue is increasing efforts in food upcycling—repurposing rescued items such as baked goods, produce, and condiments into creative, usable forms for distribution. For example, our “Surplus Condiment Drive” and “Game to Grub” initiatives demonstrate how recovered items can be safely transformed into value-added meal components for local shelters and outreach programs.

This grant supports community education that empowers residents to take action against food waste, fosters innovation in food upcycling, and reduces the environmental impact of discarded food.
