Used for This grant will support All Things Women Inc.’s Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Program for women and children escaping domestic violence and homelessness in Detroit, Michigan. Funds will provide safe shelter, daily meals, counseling, and essential resources such as hygiene kits and transportation assistance. This support will help stabilize families in crisis and create pathways to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

Families who once lived in fear will gain access to stability, counseling, and workforce development that enable long-term healing and independence. The impact extends beyond Detroit—empowering survivors to rebuild their lives strengthens entire communities and models compassionate, equity-driven care for vulnerable populations everywhere.
Proposal Description

All Things Women Inc. serves women and families in Detroit impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, poverty, and homelessness who face systemic barriers to safety and stability. Through our Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Program, we provide 24-hour shelter, trauma-informed counseling, case management, and workforce readiness training.

Grant funds from the Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation will directly support the following:

  • $8,000 for emergency shelter operations, including utilities and maintenance to ensure a safe environment.

  • $3,000 for food, hygiene items, and essential supplies for women and children residing in our shelter facility.

  • $3,000 for counseling and mental health support groups.

  • $1,000 for transportation assistance to job interviews, medical appointments, and court hearings for .

These services will help hundreds of  women and children annually transition from crisis to stability. Through individualized case management, peer mentorship, and community partnerships, we will continue transforming lives—one family at a time.
