Grant Description
Description
These funds will be used to help resource the No Green Colonialism school, hosted by Honor the Earth in spring 2025. This school specifically benefits selected Indigenous frontline leaders who are fighting transition mining and refining in their communities and/or traditional Indigenous lands. The school will be a 5 day all-expenses paid intensive, guided by a curriculum that includes the science behind these technologies, policy, campaign planning, media training, networking, engaging with tribal leadership and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers (THPOs), and asserting tribal sovereignty at various levels of government. Once the school is completed, selected participants will receive seedling grants to take back to their respective communities, to be used for campaigns, organizing, and other activities related to awareness, education, and campaigns to stop transition mining and refineries.

Used for These funds will be used to help bring Indigenous frontline leaders together for the No Green Colonialism school in spring 2025, hosted by Honor the Earth. In particular, these funds will help ensure participants’ travel is secured. By covering the costs related to travel, our organization will be able to focus on providing seedling grants to each participant to take home to their respective communities.
Benefits This money will benefit the world in a number of ways. By bringing Indigenous frontline leaders impacted by transition mining and refining together, we are facilitating a space wherein solutions are developed by those most directly affected by climate change. Additionally, by arming Indigenous frontline leaders with the skills, tools, and resources needed to successfully create and implement campaigns, we are developing leaders who can teach and share these skills with their respective communities.
