Description <p>With support from the Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation, Texas Native Health will:</p> <p>1. Increase patient access to contracted pediatric services, from 10 hours to 16 hours monthly ($125 x 6 hours x 12 months = $9,000). At an average of two patients seen per hour, Texas Native Health projects it will serve an additional 144 Native American children annually. </p> <p>2. Provide short-term emergency relief to eight or more Native American families experiencing an emergency or crisis. At an average of $500 per family, funds will be used for rental assistance, clothing, food, toiletries, utilities. Special considerations will be given to families supporting foster children, tribal elders, and those with chronic illnesses. ($500 x 8 = 4,000)</p>
Used for Support will be used to provide pediatric services for Native Americans in Texas, currently offered only once a month at Texas Native Health, and emergency relief for these families experiencing crisis.
Benefits These funds will help us address widespread disparities affecting an invisible population in Texas. As the only Native American safety-net provider and urban Indian organization (UIO) in the state, Texas Native Health is working to ensure that the risk of chronic illnesses and childhood poverty is prevented at an early age. With your support, we will be able to expand contracted pediatric services to additional children in need and help more families in need who experiencing a catastrophic event or crisis.
