Benefits The children in our community who participate in the Triple Play Program gain knowledge that will impact them far beyond their time within the walls of the Boys & Girls Club, as they learn about living healthy lives and developing healthy relationships Children who take part in our Power Hour and technology programs receive assistance with their homework and tutoring to ensure not only the completion, but understanding of material in a physical or digital format. Not only will this assistance help improve young people's academic performance and encourage them to graduate from high school, it will also spur them to pursue a post-secondary education and stimulate a lifelong love of learning.
Proposal Description This Grant Cycle we are asking the foundation for continued support to be used in funding our Triple Play, Power Hour, and Technology programs. Triple Play, Boys and Girls Club of America's comprehensive health and wellness initiative, strives to improve the overall health of members, ages 6-18, by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships. Since the Triple Play initiative was introduced in 2005, more than one million Club members have participated in fun fitness activities. The Triple Play initiative nurtures the minds, bodies and souls of Club members. The "Body" component of Triple Play promotes becoming more physically active through fun daily fitness routines and participation in organized sports. Healthy Habits is the "Mind" component of the Triple Play program. The Healthy Habits curricula is designed to teach young people about the benefits of developing healthy habits such as eating smart and being physically active; equip young people with skills to adopt healthier habits by participating in fun and engaging learning activities both at the Club and at home; and encourage young people to take small steps toward positive behavior changes. The "Soul" component of the Triple Play program encompasses the social recreation activities that are critical to positive youth development. This includes strengthening interpersonal skills, positive behavior and good character through social recreation programs.

Program Materials - Body Component: Includes lesson supplies, indoor and outdoor physical fitness equipment, daily challenge material, pool fees, medals, trophies, etc.

Program Materials - Mind Component: Includes lesson supplies, health foods for the nutrition program, guest speaker related costs, educational field trip expenses, etc.

Program Materials - Soul Component: Includes lesson supplies, game room equipment/supplies for social recreational activities, etc.

Designed specifically to assist kids and teens with homework, Power Hour and our technology program help Boys & Girls Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework support, tutoring and technology engaged activities. Dedicated youth development professionals and volunteers supervise each session and help youth members complete their assignments for the day. When they finish their work, they may choose to participate in a variety of other engaging and educational activities to develop their skills even further. By encouraging members to develop a daily habit of completing homework and studying, in a dedicated space with adult support, Power Hour and our technology program helps members make a commitment to school and the gathering of knowledge.

Program Material – internet access, homework space supplies, computer programs and hardware assets.
