Used for We will use the monies to support our 2020 programming season of visual art exhibitions, musical concerts, literary readings and workshops. We are also present a series of workshops for young women that will be conducted by writers, artists and organizations such as the Texas Council on Family Violence that will teach healthy life habits.
Benefits We will be able to better present our season of events, which benefits the residents of Austin, visitors to our city and the artists we present. We present the best of Latino art, which provides a bridge for the expression and understanding of different cultures through the appreciation of art. Through our workshops for young women we are striving to teach youth life-long skills to cope with negative influences in their life, learning how to positively express themselves and engage in a healthy lifestyle and relationships. Young women their families and friends will benefit.
Proposal Description The grant will support our 2020 programming season of visual art exhibitions, musical concerts, literary readings and workshops going to offset the transport and mounting of exhibits, curatorial expenses and assisting with archiving activities.

Through public exhibitions, musical concerts, public readings, symposiums, film screenings and workshops La Peña benefits Austin residents, visitors to our city, youth in our community and the artists presented. For artists this La Peña provides an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work as well as receive public feedback and provide the opportunity to meet fellow artists and community members. For youth, specifically young girls workshops provide the opportunity to learn life-long skills that will help them flourish as individuals. Monies for the series of six workshops will go to help pay for curriculum development and the conducting of workshops by noted UT Professor, Michael Brody.
