Description |
With funds from the 2012 Bond issue, the City of Corpus Christi has provided improvements for the area lot such as a new concrete floor for the entire area, lighting, labor for work, panels and installation, landscaping, street repair and widening, and a beach walk in front of the Texas State Aquarium, North Beach History Plaza, and the USS Lexington.

The NBCA (North Beach Community Association) has chosen multiple groups to assist with the research, design, development, photography, art and implementation of the panels. These groups include the Nueces County Historical Commission, the Museum of Science and History, the Old Bayview Cemetery and the USS Lexington. Archives have been drawn from the well-known “Doc” McGregor collection,

the University of Texas Law Library, and the TAMU-CC library and Corpus Christi Public Libraries.

Interviews with relatives have presented real “live” stories from people whose families or friends have

passed down this invaluable history.

Plans are set to start in January 2019 and a finish in the late spring of that year.
|
