Description | With funds from the 2012 Bond issue, the City of Corpus Christi has provided improvements for the area lot such as a new concrete floor for the entire area, lighting, labor for work, panels and installation, landscaping, street repair and widening, and a beach walk in front of the Texas State Aquarium, North Beach History Plaza, and the USS Lexington. |
Used for | Specifically, funds will be used for seating (concrete), additional historical signage and optional small amenities. The name chosen is the North Beach History Plaza. Panels will be devoted to historical people and events (1845-present. |
Benefits | The plaza will be multifunctional with the proposed seating benches to be used for the general public. Venues proposed are concerts, art, educational visits for school districts. The location is between the two top tourist attractions: Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington so visitors are expected to increase each year. School districts who will be contacted through our outreach program to encourage your people and educators to visit the plaza. Copies of the panels will be provided. |
