Additional Information
Used for I will use the money to rescue, shelter and rehabilitate dogs from high kill shelters and from testing laboratories. I will provide a safe home at our two sanctuaries in Agoura Hills, and Malibu California. I will provide medical care and if needs be hospice for special senior dogs so that their last days will be spent loved and cared for and not in some cold cement floor in a shelter.
Benefits Chiquita's Friends mission has always been to help alleviate the pet overpopulation problem that tragically results in the euthanasia of millions of dogs and cats who deserve much more than to die alone and frightened. Four million dogs and cats are killed each year in shelters in the United States alone, and the stray dog epidemic is still leaving large numbers of animals on the streets without homes. I have joined the countless other small dog rescues to help save, rehabilitate, and re-home some of these innocent dogs who were abandoned, abused or just turned into shelters because of the high cost of veterinary care, or because their owner passed away.
Proposal Description Chiquita's Friends 501 C3 will benefit from this grant. We presently have a large dog sanctuary, Rancho Chiquita, in Malibu, California, but due to the huge demand for space we have purchased another large property in the small town of Agoura Hills close by. This new property will house not only dogs and cats, but bunnies, horses, chickens, goats and some larger farm animals. We are presently housing bunnies and a nursing mother beagle with 9 two week old puppies. We are getting set to house many more dogs beginning June 1st. We need money to build fencing, secure the yards, build dog runs, rehabilitate the original goat shed. We will need a live in caretaker to take care of the animals once they arrive. Our caretaker will feed, walk, love and handle the medical issues as the mother beagle, Maddie, came out of a testing laboratory. As did the rabbits. We need washers, driers, cleaning supplies, synthetic turf for yards, food, grooming and many other items.

Please take a look at my little video. It will show you the property. This is the new property at Cornell
