Additional Information
Used for We are currently pursuing property that will allow our clients to have stable housing. We will use the funds to cover development expenses related to acquiring the property. This would help secure stable housing options for those affected by HIV/AIDS and others seeking affordable, safe housing.
Benefits By securing stable housing, individuals who are HIV positive and housing insecure will be able to improve chances of staying in medical care. This could reduce emergency room recidivism that amplify healthcare costs to the community and provide a motivating opportunity to develop self-sustaining habits.
Proposal Description Since 1990, Carolinas CARE Partnership has provided programs and services to those affected by HIV/AIDS in our region. Our services include testing, health education, linkage to medical care, housing subsidies and supportive services. We assist the client in establishing and maintaining a stable living environment; improve access to HIV treatment and other health support; and reduce the risk of re-occurring homelessness for the person living with HIV/AIDS and their families.

One of the barriers in securing housing is gaining acceptance for renters who may have a blemished background or credit issues. Carolinas CARE Partnership intends to acquire multi-unit housing that will allow us to directly house clients and also provide additional safe, affordable housing in the community. We have identified a property and will begin applying for available funding for rehabilitation. We are being advised by the City of Charlotte Neighborhood and Business Services Department and the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership.

We accessed that a level of expertise in housing development is required to navigate and complete the critical requirements of the application. We have identified a developer with 15 years of professional experience who could manage this project. We are asking for your support to help cover the initial developer costs in application process.
