Grant Description
Description	CHOSA supports a range of community-based organizations in Cape Town, South Africa with a focus on the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children. One of our partner organizations is Abaphumeleli Place of Safety. The home was established as a safe place for orphaned and vulnerable children in 2004. It is located in the township of Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha. Approximately 26 children live in two homes situated side-by-side. Currently, CHOSA is supporting Abaphumeleli with capacity-building services, assisting with their financial reporting, and helping to establish a Board of Directors. We are now requesting a grant of $10,000 in order to support Abaphumeleli with financial assistance in two critical areas. First, we will provide funds toward the purchase of their second home, without which they will not have sufficient space. This home is currently rented from a landlord who regularly threatens to evict the children and their caretakers. Second, we will support Abaphumeleli with a monthly grant to cover essential on-going operating costs, including the purchase of food, electricity, preschool and school fees, transport, structural maintenance, and medicine. With your help, CHOSA can support our partner and together we will promote sustainable, high-quality care and housing for orphaned and vulnerable children for this year and in years to come.
Used for	CHOSA works with community-based organizations that care for orphaned and vulnerable children in Cape Town, South Africa. Funding will allow us to support our partner project, Abaphumelili Place of Safety, which is home to 26 children. Abaphumeleli is in need of assistance in two critical areas: (1) the purchase of a second home; (2) On-going operating costs such as food, maintenance, and supplies.
