| Description | CHOSA supports a range of community-based organizations in Cape Town, South Africa with a focus on the well-being of orphaned and vulnerable children. One of our partner organizations is Abaphumeleli Place of Safety. The home was established as a safe place for orphaned and vulnerable children in 2004. It is located in the township of Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha. Approximately 26 children live in two homes situated side-by-side. |
| Used for | CHOSA works with community-based organizations that care for orphaned and vulnerable children in Cape Town, South Africa. Funding will allow us to support our partner project, Abaphumelili Place of Safety, which is home to 26 children. Abaphumeleli is in need of assistance in two critical areas: (1) the purchase of a second home; (2) On-going operating costs such as food, maintenance, and supplies. |
| Benefits | CHOSA supports the care and education of orphaned and vulnerable children from South Africa’s poorest neighborhoods. Through sustainable, grassroots development projects, we not only address child poverty, but also confront the historic forces that sustain a community’s impoverishment. Healthy, nurtured, and well-educated South African children will grow up to be local leaders in their own communities and will help to create a more stable and peaceful global community. |
