Additional Information
Used for Funds received will be used to provide clean, comfortable rooms in a safe environment to families of critically ill children. These families cannot afford the $15-per-night suggested fee to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Donations to the Share-A-Night Program will help defray the $80-per-night cost of operating each room at our facility.
Benefits Donations to our Share-A-Night Program help provide a home-away-from-home for the families of critically sick children. This reduces the financial burden on families and allows the Ronald McDonald House Charities to provide a safe, comfortable room for economically disadvantaged families suffering from the added burden of having a child with a life-threatening illness.
Proposal Description Since 1990, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc. has provided a home away from home to families of critically ill children. In that time, volunteers and staff have helped residents cope with the stress and strain associated with treatment, hospitalization, and life away from home.

Having a critically ill child is bad enough, so imagine trying to care for your child when you lack the financial resources to provide medical care or pay travel expenses to acquire treatment. Many of the 2,700 families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House each year lack the ability to pay the $15-per night suggested fee.

But thanks to our Share-A-Night Program, individuals, businesses, and charitable organizations can meet the $80-per-night cost to provide clean, comfortable rooms in a safe environment within walking distance of Driscoll Children’s Hospital and Doctors Regional Medical Center. This holiday season, we invite you to give the gift of home to families who need it most. By doing so, you'll ensure that families with sick children will have a place to call home, no matter how far away they are from theirs.

We understand that times are tough for many people in our community, and that you are beseiged with requests for donations. But no one needs help more than families who have been hit with the double burden of poverty and a life-threatening illness to a child. We hope the Dudley T. Dougherty Foundation will help us help them by making a $10,000 donation to our Share-A-Night Program, providing more than 120 room nights to needy families.
