Additional Information
Used for The money will be used to assist pregnant women including minors, single mothers who are not pregnant, their dependent children and newborn babies when faced with homelessness. Our mission and goal is to provide compassion, shelter, assistance and education for the women and their children of our community when homeless, abandoned, abused, addicted and especially when faced with a crisis pregnancy situation. These funds will be used for this purpose.
Benefits Our ministry gives homeless mothers the opportunity to accept responsibility, to care for their children, further their education, obtain employment, permanent housing and become productive, self-sufficient members of our community with the support of our staff and volunteers. As the mothers are assited and mentored in changing their lives, then their children receive direct benefit from this assistance through a stable home where the child can focus on school and mothers who are learning skills to become better parents. As the mothers and children grow, become educated, and obtain skills for self-sufficiency; then a cycle of poverty and homelessness can be broken--one family at a time this will benefit our community and the world.
Proposal Description Hope House is the only shelter in the region that will accept homeless pregnant women on a long-term basis and have been designated as a Maternity Home and Emergency Shelter.
Hope House assists pregnant women including minors, single mothers who are not pregnant, their dependent children and newborn babies when in need. We are a welcome refuge for
women who have no other place to go because of domestic violence, homelessness, addiction or
being left completely abandoned and alone. We provide a stable home and assistance to mothers and their children regardless of race, age, ethnicity, religion or disability. Hope House residents are required to participate in a variety of activities in order to improve their health, welfare, life skills, housing and employment opportunities. Minor residents must attend the Teenage Mothers School while older residents must seek a minimum of a GED diploma. Others may continue with college, vocational training, work and/or seek employment. Tuition assistance and childcare assistance is available. All the residents are required to seek regular medical attention, obtain available government assistance and attend our mandatory, bi-weekly Life Skills Training Program presented by various experts of our community. The residents must abide by strict rules for their own benefit (no unapproved guests, drugs, alcohol, smoking, abusive behavior, theft, weapons, curfew violation, etc.). The grant money will be used for these purposes.
