A large percentage of children served at the Child Study Center are medically covered through public assistance (CHIPS) which generally pays only 40 percent of the total costs. According to a study performed by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2008, Texas ranks 51st among states and the District of Columbia in the percentage of children with health insurance.
When seen at the Child Study Center, uninsured children are enrolled to make payments on a sliding scale, and parents pay what they can according to their means. The Children’s Care Fund helps cover costs of services provided for both the uninsured and underinsured, assuring that quality services are available to all children who need them. |
